Now that the Christmas presents have been bought, exchanged, the stockings stuffed and unwrapped, the Christmas dinner has been had and left feeling stuffed, I am finally getting down to writing down my all time favourite recipe; sweet miso tahini oats. I’m pretty baffled that I am only getting around to writing this recipe on here until now cause it’s definitely one of my most popular recipes.

I’d be lying if I said that I’ve been doing all the self-care things leading up to the holidays, but let’s be freaking real here people it’s the most busy time of the year for almost anyone and everyone! Now that Christmas has happened I’m finding time to slow down and enjoy time with myself and my family, that includes writing on here as I use it as a journal and it’s something I want to prioritize in 2019. You can’t fill others cup up if you don’t fill your own up first. I have a busy 2019 coming up so making more time for self-care + inner growth is paramount. Any who, let’s get onto the topic of the oats!

This sweet miso tahini oat recipe is probably my most made recipe on Instagram, and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t make it at least 5x a week. Like seriously the umami from the sweet maple syrup mixed with white miso is a party in the mouth. If you don’t like tahini you can totally sub tahini with almond butter (as inspired by my friend Maddie).

Enjoy!

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats (soaked in water 1-2 hrs)

  • 1 pinch sea salt

  • 1 cup almond milk

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

  • 1 tsp maple syrup

  • 1 tsp white miso paste

  • 1 tsp tahini

  • 3 tbsp almond milk

  • 1/2 chopped pear (optional)

Method: Start by cooking the oats with the water, almond milk, and cinnamon. While the oats cook make the tahini sauce- whisk together the miso, maple, tahini, and 3 tbsp of almond milk. Once the oats are cooked through, add a splash of almond milk on top, add fruit, and tahini sauce on top.
