Sweet + Spicy Honey Garlic Cauliflower Wings

The Superbowl is next Sunday and honestly I’m not really a fan of sports. I was always the one in gym class trying to sit the football unit out… One too many footballs to the face and I think that’s enough to give myself a fear. I mean I’m not judging anyone who does enjoy Sunday ball but I just don’t get it.

My sister Sarah on the other hand is the sports fanatic, so the Super Bowl will totally be streaming in our house this time next week. Naturally (being the cook of the family that I am) I decided that I’ll make some game food for us while she watches and I’ll probably write on here while it streams in the background.

They are spicy from the Frank’s and sweet (from the honey), add garlic in and we got ourselves sweet + spicy honey garlic cauliflower wings. Perfect to top on a salad, or just for straight up snacking. I’ll probably make another version to go with these, because the more wings the better am I right? Some recipes I’ve been eyeing are: baked buffalo cauliflower wings , sticky sesame cauli wings, and sriracha buffalo cauli wings.

Sweet + Spicy Honey Garlic Cauliflower Wings

  • 1 whole head of cauliflower (cut into florets)

  • 1 cup gluten-free all-purpose flour (or all-purpose)

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp pepper

  • 1 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk

  • 1/3 cup Frank’s Red Hot Sauce or equivalent

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce

  • 3 Tbsp honey

  • 1 large clove garlic (minced)

  • 1/4 cup sesame seeds (optional)

Method: Line and baking tray with parchment paper and preheat the oven to 425 F. Rinse and chop the cauliflower into florets. In a bowl whisk together the flour, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Add in the unsweetened plain almond milk and whisk until there are no lumps. Batter each of the florets in the mixture to coat and evenly distribute them on the baking tray. Bake for 25-30 minutes. While they are baking make the sauce. Whisk together the hot sauce, soy sauce, honey, and minced garlic. Once baked allow to cool for 10-15 minutes and douse each floret (wing) in the sauce. Place back on the baking tray and bake for another 15-20 minutes. Serve solo or perfect in salads.
